Mr. Danny CHAN
Chief Praise Maker, Praisage
It was while studying in Australia and supporting himself through part time work in customer service positions that Danny came to experience and realise the physical and psychological challenges of working on the front-line of business, as well as the power of both complaints and appreciation. After returning to Hong Kong in 2001, Danny was engaged in a variety of leadership roles across diverse industries: Tourism & Hospitality, Branding, People Development and Public Affairs. But at the heart of his work lays a deep and sincere commitment to serve and support people.
It was at the age of 32 that Danny made a profound and remarkable decision that would radically alter the direction of his life. In response to what he experienced as an emerging corporate culture dominated by complaint driven reaction, he committed himself to developing a platform through which he could champion and promote a somewhat contradictory culture of appreciation, and lead a transformation in organisational behaviour.
The outcome of his courageous effort is this award-winning concept, Praisage (www.praisage.com), which is now the world's first platform of praise. Danny’s start-up story has been featured in major above- and below-the-line media, including a feature story by Blessing Hong Kong (築福香港). Major awards he earned over the years include: ‘Local Heroes’ - Ming Pao Weekly (2012), ‘Most Creative Entrepreneur’ - 881903.com (2012) and ‘Top 10 Hong Kong Start-up’ - Startbase Hong Kong (2014).
Danny was graduated in Sydney with double majors in Tourism Management and Marketing. His voluntary leadership roles in the community include Executive Committee Member of Wah Yan College (HK) and Chairman of Leadership Training Association (2011 & 2012).
