Mr. CHIA K.O.
Mr. K.O. Chia is a seasoned and accomplished Private Equity-Venture Capitalist and Executive Officer with more than 27 years of diverse international experience. He had strong U.S.-Asia venture capital investing experience, built a technology start-up company and extensive corporate management in Europe and Asia-Pacific.
Currently, he serves as the President of the Hong Kong Venture Capital & Private Equity Association. He also serves on the Board of CDC Corporation (NASDAQ: CHINA), china.com (HKGEM listed), and Hutchison 3G Co. Ltd. representing NTT DoCoMo. Additionally he serves on the Technology Assessment Committee at HK SAR government’s Applied Science & Technology Research Institute (ASTRI), Board member of both University of Hong Kong & HK University of Science & Technology’s technology transfer companies, and member of the Advisory Board of HK Baptist University’s School of Continuing Education. He is a frequent guest speaker on entrepreneurship, Asia business, venture capital & private equity investments at conferences and various U.S. & Asian business schools.
Retired as a venture capitalist, he was previously Managing Director for North Asia with Walden International, a US-Asia investment firm with US$1.5B under management. For his entrepreneurial journey, he was Vice-President, Asia-Pacific, and a member of the founding management team that built Premisys Communciations, Inc., a successful venture capital backed start-up technology company. He started his extensive corporate career with Hewlett-Packard/Agilent Technologies where he served on various manufacturing, product management, marketing and sales management roles in Europe and Asia-Pacific. He also held Asia region product marketing role at Apple Computer.
Mr. Chia holds a MBA degree from Strathclyde University, Scotland, DipMS from Napier University, Scotland and a BEng (Hons) in Electronic Engineering from Sheffield University, England.
