Mr. MAN Lap
Lap Man is Founder and Chief Executive Officer of DYXnet Group, which has become Greater China’s leading carrier-neutral network service provider since launch in 1999.
The company has established around 200 Internet and network (Points-of-presence) POPs in 59 cities and serves geographies that include Greater China, Singapore and Vietnam. Today, DYXnet Group has established 18,000 VPN clients’ sites via MPLS technology.
In 2017, Man serves as a Managing Partner of Beyond Ventures, a startup fund whose mission is to revitalise Hong Kong’s ecosystem of innovation by bringing together local venture capitalists and entrepreneurs to invest in new ideas and start-ups.
This US$60M startup fund is co-founded by Hony Capital, a leading China-focused PE fund with AUM of USD10 billion, eGarden Ventures, a Hong Kong homegrown technology, media and telecommunications (TMT) focused venture capital fund with 18 years of experience in China & Hong Kong as well as several successful serial entrepreneurs from Hong Kong with strong track record.
In 2014, Man sold certain DYXnet Group business interests and became involved as an “angel investor” in local start-ups such as HKTaxi, Can Dao, Delivery Republic and iRent. He also advises young entrepreneurs through the auspices of the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups.
Before launching DYXnet Group, Man was one of the minds behind LinkAGE Online, which grew to become Hong Kong’s largest corporate Internet service provider before being acquired by PSINet in 1998.
He was honoured in the “Capital Leaders of Excellence” awards scheme in 2009 and appeared two years later in the “Excellence in Achievement of World Chinese Youth Entrepreneurs” rankings organised by the World Federation of Chinese Entrepreneurs Organization. In 2012, he was a winner in the “Asia Pacific Entrepreneurship Awards” and later named one of the “Top 10 Most Innovative High Technology Innovators in Asia” by RHA Media. He was also awarded a “Who’s Who Chinese Business Leader Honor Certificate” by the Asian College of Knowledge Management. In 2016, he won EY Entrepreneur of the Year China 2016 award.
Man graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong with a Bachelors Degree in Japanese Studies and became interested in the Internet during an exchange program at the Sophia University in Japan in 1993.
