EYE Kickoff Ceremony
You may recall that Eric visited Hong Kong last Nov and announced The Empowering Young Entrepreneurs (EYE) Program, in collaboration with The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). We are happy to share with you that 900+ local youngsters (a mix of students and working people/ entrepreneurs) successfully applied for the program.
On Feb 16 (Sunday), a kick-off event was hosted with inspirational talks and creative setup using digital backdrop, illuminating color boxes, interactive word cloud (we asked what the virtues of a successful entrepreneur are) and photo wall. The government's endorsement, partner's commitment, and support from local community make this event remarkable.
500+ young people, government officials and industry representatives came this Sunday afternoon. VIP guests attended include Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Gregory So, Deputy Government Chief Information Officer Joey Lam, Invest HK Associate Director-General Charles Ng, Legislative Council member Charles Mok, CUHK Vice Chancellor Professor Joseph Sung, CUHK Center for Entrepreneurship Director Professor Kevin Au, Google Hong Kong Managing Director Dominic Allon, Cherrypicks Founder and CEO Jason Chiu, and others. Event attendees felt empowered and inspired by the speakers. Designed and driven by CUHK, a series of training sessions will start next week. We expect that this one-year program will encourage local youngsters to innovate, promote the use of technology (esp. how Google products can help), and promote entrepreneurship in Hong Kong.
